China’s Animal Testing Laws

I’m providing a brief overview because it’s something that isn’t well explained or understood. I didn’t know a lot of this info, which is why I’m doing a post on it now.

The People’s Republic of China requires that all foreign cosmetic and other such products (such as nail polish and hair products) undergo animal testing if they are to be sold in the country. This does not include Hong Kong, a factor to consider. This only applies to products physically sold in China. It does not apply to online shopping.

Cosmetics manufactured in China are also not subject to this law.

Please note that this does not mean all of these companies’ brands sell in China as well. For example, L’Oreal sells in China but Urban Decay does not. As always, it is up to you as to which companies you support.
